What if our call goes viral?

We never cut off a live search. We tell you as you near your size, and you can step up a size whenever you like.

Put this on the production budget, not your casting fee.

For the open search on [Project Name], we are using Open Casting (opencasting.co.uk) to take the public self-tapes, hold under-18 applications until a parent or guardian confirms, and delete everything 30 days after the production finishes.

By hand, downloading, logging and chasing permissions across a thousand self-tapes takes about 9 days of casting assistant time, around £1,600. Open Casting covers the whole call for a flat fee of £1,200 plus VAT (£960 with our 20% Casting Directors' Guild discount).

It also gives the director and producers one private link to watch and mark our top selects on their phones, with no additional login.

Shall I put it down as a production line item, or send the invoice straight to accounts once we publish the call?

What one fee covers

  • One fee covers the whole casting call. Roles are unlimited.
  • We email you at 80% and 100% of it. Move up a size at any time, or close the call when you have enough.
  • Applicants beyond your plan are £1 each, invoiced once when the call closes. Buy more in advance from 60p each.

Extra applicants

  • Every extra applicant is £1.
  • We tell you at 80% and 100% of your plan.
  • Your call never closes. Applicants are never turned away.
  • We invoice extra applicants once, when the call closes.

Example

A Standard call expects 150 applicants and gets 350.

200 extra applicants × £1 = £200.

Total: £550. That is £1.57 per applicant.

Pricing questions

Which plan am I?

Go by the applicants you expect. Up to 150: Standard. Up to 500: Mid-Range. Up to 1,000: Large Productions. More, or several calls a year: ask for a Custom Agreement.

When do I pay?

When you publish, as the link goes live. Setting up and trying a call on the sample applicants is free. Each casting call is paid for on its own. We never charge mid-casting without your agreement.

What counts as one applicant?

One person applying to one casting call, whichever role they choose. Unfinished forms are not counted.

Can we buy applicant space in advance?

Yes. Packs of 100 for £90, 300 for £240, 500 for £350 or 1,000 for £600, which is 90p down to 60p each. A pack is used before any applicant is charged singly. Moving up a size is cheaper still.

What if we get far more applicants than expected?

Nothing stops. Each extra applicant is £1, invoiced when the call closes. We tell you at 80% and 100%.

Can we add another role later?

Yes, at any time, at no charge. Roles are unlimited.

Is there a charge per person on my team?

No. Add as many colleagues as you need. Producers and directors on your ‘Yes’ list are not charged either.

What happens to the applicants' details at the end?

We delete them on the date the casting call promised. That is 30 days after the production ends, unless your account records a different period before the call opens. The agreement sets it out.
